Every human being has an integral sense of spirituality (Homo Spiritualis) and a need to be in touch with the God that created us with this spiritual awareness. The lifestyle of the 21st century however, leads us to disavow this essential spiritual awareness and replaces our deep longing for God with various distractions.  Our society with its materialism, rat race, secularism, consumerism and all its other ‘man created’ attractions, only deepen this gap between Creator and ‘the created’.  Even in the church there are man-made distractions that at times prevent us from finding ways to bridge this gap. These distractions cannot fill the God created emptiness that only a spiritual connection with God can bring. A short definition of our understanding of the word retreat is: “a time of solitude and silence with the purpose of deepening one’s relationship with God.”
